Uhm since no one asked, Lesson 2:

Sometime this year, I watched as a neighbour’s 4 yr old kid, at 7:00 am (Jesus!) stepped out to wait for the school van to pick her up. At that very moment, my heart was so filled with gratitude at the fact my biggest problem was unemployment, and it’s subsequent consequences.
It’s been said that ‘adulthood is a scam’, and ‘they didn’t warn us’, and many times childhood holds a certain appeal.
However, for me, no adulthood also means waking up before 5:00 am to catch the school bus in primary school, memorising 4 years worth of work in 10 classes for a national exam, running on 2 hours of sleep because you can’t fail that exam, holiday work.
Don’t get me wrong, this year has been one that has held the most lessons and growth for a lot of my peers and myself, and it’s not been easy, but I love my problems.
I love that a lot of them are consequences of my actions, and I’m in control, and I’m in the process of engineering the life that I want for myself.
From where I’m standing, it’s only getting better, and I’m only getting hotter.
Happy 2024!
